HELP, THERE ARE SEVERAL SUNS IN MY LANTERN

Hiya again, Kiwi here!

So, if you've been keeping up with the dev-log, you'll know that I'm shockingly good at blinding myself! That trend doesn't stop here, let's take a look:

No, your eyes DO NOT deceive you. There are GLOWING. ORBS. IN. MY. LANTERN. Apparently, with the way I make transparent materials in blender, having a light in there does... that! Unintentional, but I'm fond of it to be honest! :P

This area in the screenshot above has been a real pain to make, because I wanted it to be like a pillow fort, at least vibes-wise. That means that I had to acquaint myself with the LOVELY world of softbodies... (they give me shivers just TALKING about them)...

Let me run you through my first experience with softbodies!~

This right here is my first attempt at a BLANKET. Yes, it IS extremely rigid, because I didn't add any :~ subdivisions ~:... They split the shape up into smaller sections, and that makes softbodies more... floppy. Here's the same shape with a subdivision width and height of 30!

YEAH BABY, WE GOT FLOPPY BLANKETS!!!! Thats fine and all, but I REALLY do not like the editor display of this thing. Let me subject you to it too :3 :

Look at that, doesn't that just look WONDERFUL to play with? (It's kind of pretty, to be fair!)

Let's talk about the structure of the experience. You have a ‘safe zone’ (The area with the lantern) which is weird to say considering there is no real danger… or at least, there isn’t any more. This safe zone is called [REDACTED | Check out my Ko-Fi if you want the deets ;)], and you will return to this place after every ‘scenario’. The scenarios will be simple. There will be a short bit of exposition before you need to make a choice. This choice will influence your ‘acceptance’ or ‘rejection’ counters. These will determine an ending. It's just going to be a short and sweet little experience!

I think the last bit I'll touch on in this dev-log is the sound design.  I’ve been leaning into sound design in this project because sound conveys a lot of emotion and feeling. I won’t move on until I have captured the exact mood that I am trying to set in a scene, and that involves a lot of tinkering and small adjustments with the most minute details. I feel I’m going to develop carpal tunnel at this rate :P (All the more reason to donate, eh? Give me funds to give my fingers and wrists a nice massage ;) )

Alrighty, that's a wrap on the progress I've made!!

As usual, check out my Ko-Fi for exclusive behind-the-scenes on the development! I'll be adding another dev-log on there shortly after this goes public!

PS: Subscribing to my Ko-fi membership will get you an in-game thank you line, because it really does help, even if small.

If you've felt seen or moved by this project, even a small donation helps keep the lights on while I keep building it. Thank you <3
